The old HD dvd format

    Hi :crying:

    I was an early adopter of the format, there must be others in my situation.

    What are you going to do when the player dies:

    Is there a way to burn the disks to NAS or a PC which has blu-ray burner.

    or put them on ebay.

    If you still use windows XP you might be able to backup the HDDVD but if you are on Windows 7 or Windows 8 then its a no go.

    What? Is this happening soon, nooooooooo what am I going to do.

    Yeah, Microsoft disable or took out the bit of code that supports playback for HD DVD in Windows 7 and Windows 8. They consider it a dead tech.

    Hd Dvd can be backed up but you need to find a Hd DVD rom for the Pc (LG made a good one) and then you can convert to bluray, or do what I did buy 3 or 4 Toshiba HD DVD players
    can get cheap on Ebay if you keep looking and store them in the cupboard :)
