Q&A: What's The Best Way To Resize A Small Image?

    You see, I have this image, but it's small:

    I'd love to get it in bigger format so I could use it for a possible DVD cover. However, someone told me to scan it with 1200 DPI twice, one time vertical, one time horizontal. Then mix them together in Photoshop.

    Does this really work, or are there better ways to resize a small pic to a larger format?

    The level of detail does not hold up under any circumstance where you try to enlarge from smaller to bigger beyond a 10 to 15% enlargement. You never go from smaller to larger - you're trying to extrapolate pixels that just aren't there and all you're getting is a muddy piece of guesswork by the software trying to create pixels out of nothing

    Sorry, but when all you folks get it through our heads that anytime you do this, all you are doing is trying to use 1 pound of shit to fill a 4 pound bag, the sooner all these hacks and methods and attempts to pass off low quality work as high quality product will stop
